Val d'Isere & Ski 2 Freedom: Mountains for All Seasons
Val d'Isère is one of our top destinations for disabled and adaptive skiing and other winter sports! It really is 'Mountains for all Seasons' with a diversity of activities and a place to benefit from the natural elements of the raw beauty that make up the Haute Tarentaise mountain landscape. Several thousand years before these world-famous ski resorts of the Haute Tarentaise attracted holidaymakers from all over the world during the winter, people have worked and lived on the land, walked the mountains finding salvation on their pilgrimages and traded with cultures across Europe. Both in winter and summer the valley’s unspoilt beauty and nature also offers a wide variety of activities. The glaciated valley at the meeting point of three major Alpine passes offers nature, heritage and cultural interests: Alpine lakes, traditional villages, the Vanoise National Park, mountain pastures, baroque churches, typical mountain and Savoyard food and produce, and traditional festivals.
History has evolved this region into a place of magnificent scenery and culture – one where it is possible to find self-confidence, rejuvenate, rehabilitate, de-stress and ultimately feel at one with the empowering senses of the natural elements to be found in the mountains! Val d’Isere; Tignes; La Rosiere; Sainte Foy-Tarentaise and Les Arcs are all well known ski resorts where anyone, regardless of age disability, special need or life-changing condition, can be empowered by participating in some activity whether it is being in a sit-ski, walking, snow-shoeing, snowboarding… Val d'Isère - what people say about being there with a disability, special need or life-changing condition "Arnon stayed in Val d'Isere with a school friend at La Savoyarde www.la-savoyarde.com hotel (S2F recommendation) and had eight days of skiing which he fully enjoyed! He had lessons with both Xavier and Philippe from ESF Val d’Isere www.esfvaldisere.com (S2F recommendation). He texted me that its: “going great... all hurts.. and we are ski beasts and my shoulders are in danger of falling off”
Arnon is happiest when moving fast and on the edge. At the end of the trip he was doing blue and green slopes without assistance and red with the instructor helping at sticky turns. In the meantime his pal Daniel learned to snowboard for the 1st time.. hence the all hurting.. he was very happy with their equipment ... said the angle of the sit-ski and height was better than the one used in La Plagne the previous year. In terms of instructors he found both Xavier and Philippe to be excellent and very focused on his needs. Ski 2 Freedom you are quite amazing - thank you so much for your efforts and enthusiasm. Arnon will be more than happy to send photos and impressions from his holiday.” Bonnie, Arnon’s mother
