Autism, Skiing and an Inclusive Family Winter Holiday in Le Grand Bornand – France

**Ski 2 Freedom Foundation helped Miles with his first family ski holiday. Having had a few lessons at the Snow Dome in Hemel Hempstead (UK) with specialist ski association, Snowbility, Miles at least had a little understanding of what to do and was comfortable with ski boots and skis. A mid-week break in February 2019 was the preferred choice by his parents so that they could give him an introduction to the mountains and what a real ski holiday would be all about before committing to a full week next winter. Sian and Catherine Cosby (Ski 2 Freedom) kept in touch as Catherine gave advice and ideas on which would be the best resort given it would be a very busy time of the winter season. Inspired by watching Ski Sunday, Sian was super keen to make her dream of getting son Miles on the slopes this February. *“Thanks for all your help Catherine. We confirmed our ski holiday at the end of last week. Wouldn't have got there without you. You would be most welcome for a coffee, if you want to find out about our travails on the slopes.” * (Sadly Catherine was unable to meet up with the family but received some great photos of Miles on 22 February just after the family returned back to England). *“Catherine, just a quick note to thank you for helping us getting Miles skiing. We have just returned from a wonderful skiing trip in Le Grand Bornand with Ski Weekender. Miles was able to cope with the skiing thanks to his previous lessons with Snowbility at Hemel Hempstead. He navigated magic carpets, chair lifts and button lifts with no problem. Although he was very cautious, after day two he was skiing in a controlled manner behind his instructor. He says skiing is scary but fun and would go again- a great result! It really helped that we had a separate chalet linked to main hotel so he could retreat in the evening back to somewhere that was quiet. So thank you for getting us into the "white stuff" I couldn't have done it without your support.... I think the kids are hooked. Best wishes“ *Sian http://www.ski2freedom.com http://www.skiweekender.com http://www.esf-grand-bo.com http://www.legrandbornand.com @skiweekender @ski_2_freedom @esflegrandbornand @legrandbornand @SavoieMontBlanc #annecymountains #savoiemontblanc #Alpes #montagne
