Skiing with Cerebral Palsy from 2009 to 2018
Skiing with Cerebral Palsy: One of our early beneficiaries!
An early beneficiary of Ski 2 Freedom Foundation was the Shimmin family from the UK. Their son, Laurence, was then aged 9 and his day-to-day life is affected by Cerebral Palsy.
Catherine Cosby, of Ski 2 Freedom, first met the family in Val d’Isere when the charity was in its infancy. Since that time, when Laurence was in the sit-ski with Philippe Pouchkine of ESF Val d’Isere, the family have been to La Plagne with Oxygene Ski School, Fügen in Austria and twice to Morzine with ESF Morzine.

“What illustrates the confidence that is gained by parents is that after one or two ski trips, the Shimmin family were more than happy to continue their life-enhancing ski trips by similar contacting the local ESF or Austrian ski school and knew what equipment suited Laurence and what was needed to ensure everyone had an inclusive and accessible winter holiday.
This is often the case for many of our beneficiaries who have contacted me but then feel reassured about making their own way – often they may just ask if a particular ski resort has the same equipment and it is easy to make the connection for them.” Catherine Cosby (Founder and Trustee)
