Japan - skiing with a disability or special need

There is some amazing skiing to be had in the ski resorts of Japan. Ski 2 Freedom has not yet had the opportunity of visiting the region but we have one or two clients who have skied there and their feed back can be found on Japan/skiers feedback

We were also fortunate in March 2012 of having a visit by Japanese representatives for skiing for blind and partially sighted people. They came to Gstaad which is the main centre in Switzerland for skiing if you are blind or partially sighted and we have now made some very useful contacts and long term associations.

Ski Resorts

Niesko Ski Resort

One of our clients, from Australia, who uses a sit-ski sent some useful feedback and will be returning next winter.

Where to stay in Niesko

SkiJapan.com comes highly recommended by a client and "they have a large range of properties, were extremely helpful and would be able to advise on wheelchair accessible places to stay." Clancy

All our information, at the moment, is based on that received from clients.

Yotei cottage

Feedback from client:

"A two bedroom, traditional loft style house well located in lower village opposite the shuttle bus stop. Not a good choice for those in a wheelchair as it has external stairs and many internal stairs to access the bedrooms." (please note: client walks with crutches and shoe splints)
