The Zugspitz Arena is jewel in the Tirolean Crown! Perfect for winter, summer, spring and autumn breaks it has something for everyone and offers the warm welcome that brings people back to Austria time after time. If you have never visited Austria or this region, then you really have to do so!! Nestled at the base of the magestic Zugspitz Mountain (on the Austrian side) it has several small, charming villages that make up this region.
One of them is Lermoos and to be found here are a selection of beautiful hotels including the magical Kinder Hotel The Alpenrose. There is something for everyone from the elegant Post Hotel to a fabulous Sporthotel which offers a great welcome.
Sport activities such as adaptive and assisted skiing are on offer along with all the other winter wonderland experiences one comes to find such as sleigh rides and snowy walks. In the summer access for wheelchair users, is of course, much easier but everyone can enjoy the beautiful scenery, local alp culture and history.
If you, a friend or family member have any of the following then might work brilliantly for your ski or summer holiday. This is by no means an exhaustive list (it would be impossible to include every condition) but many have similar or common factors. As often someone may have a condition that we have not yet come across please do ask us if you are interested in the resort and we can try to help.
We do advise that if you have any health issues that might be affected by extreme temperatures; altitude or have had surgery or an on-going physical / neurological condition that might be or could be affected by being moved at speed, over rough or uneven terrain or being on or in a ski lift please do contact us for more advice before going ahead and booking your holiday. Another resort might work better for you.
Click here for more information on specific conditionshas a great selection of hotels, apartments and chalets suitable for all visitors. Accessible accommodation in is also available for wheelchair users (dependent on type of wheelchair) and those with limited mobility.
If a place is listed below it will have been visited by Ski 2 Freedom or will be personally known to us. However, any accommodation listed on this page is by no means all that is available in the resort. To have a full list of places, please contact us, and if possible please state your preferred requirements.
There are some really great typical Tirolean hotels to be found in the region. One of our favourites is the Alpenrose Kinder hotel in Lermoos. This is a magical place for families to enjoy a holiday at any time of the year, but in particular during the winter and summer holidays. The ski slope is just across the road and it is wheelchair accessible and has a very warm welcome for everyone!
The Post Hotel, close to the church in the old part of the village, is a beautiful hotel and would be perfect for a short or longer break - elegant and charming it evokes an era of when time moved slower and less frenetic! It is certainly a place to go and just relax and enjoy.
Perfectly located, this gem of a hotel is totally magical and offers a warm welcome to family and children. A super place for all generations to enjoy an inclusive and accessible holiday - winter, summer, spring and autumn!
Very easy to access the ski slopes. The rooms are superb, the restaurant offers a high class menu but all intended to be child-friendly. Everything about this hotel is just a wonderful experience!
To request further in-depth and comprehensive information on Hotel Alpenrose contact us.
Michael Fasser is the Director of this super ski school in Lermoos. They are able to teach many different conditions and work with children and adults to ensure that they have a truly life-changing experience on the mountains.
The equipment is not perhaps as up-to-date as we would like, but it is there and we are hoping to raise funds to donate a Tessier Snow-kart and dual-ski.
Michael and his team are waiting to greet you and we know you will have a special time! If you have other children without any specific need of assistance, then the ski school can offer group lessons or private.
To get a better idea and understanding of the ski resort of and what else they can offer you for your holiday, we suggest you look up their website as every Tourist Office offers a fascinating and exciting insight into what they and the surrounding area can offer visitors. In addition many have a dedicated website or page for those who are in need of assistance, disabled, with young children and babies and those of us just getting on a bit in life!
Many ski resorts offer reduced or discounted lift passes for someone with a disability or in need of assistance. For the following apply. However we suggest you also contact the Lift Pass Office for further information as prices and conditions can change.
All the news, feedback articles and press releases illustrate how helps to enhance people’s lives. Our information has and is obtained by means of extensive personal research at a cost, often to the Foundation, we only give this out to those that request it and is not for general public use. For our beneficiaries this information is free but for a company or organisation we make a nominal charge via donation.
Mountains 4 All provides specific information on the activities for skiers with a disability, additional need or life-challenging illness, etc. plus useful extras such as wheelchair accessible places to stay; so we are not going to also reproduce amazing information and advice on ski resorts which has been collected by ski journalists, skiers and ski companies which are dedicated to this service - what we can do is to link you to these sites which may well give you some extra background information on a specific ski resort and help you make up your mind as to where you might go!
