Assisted Mountain Activities in the Resort of La Rosière
La Rosière is one of our top resorts for all types of adaptive skiing and winter sports. There is excellent ski instruction, equipment and a warm welcome.
It is a small resort, located on the route from Bourg St Maurice to the Col de Petit Saint Bernard and then over into Italy. Although in the winter this route is closed! There are two small ‘village’ areas – one the village of La Rosière and the other Les Eucherts which is more purpose built but also offers a great location to stay.
We know that this resort works really well for children with hemiplegia and adults who have suffered a stroke. In addition blind or visually impaired skiers are more than catered for including off-piste and ski touring. We have also had high praise from sit-skiers and those who skiing with Down’s Syndrome; skiing with Parkinson's; skiing with Cerebral Palsy; skiing with Autism or a learning difficulty.

La Rosière has a great selection of hotels, apartments and chalets suitable for all visitors. Accessible accommodation in La Rosière is also available for wheelchair users (dependent on type of wheelchair) and those with limited mobility.
If a place is listed below it will have been visited by Ski 2 Freedom or will be personally known to us. However, any accommodation listed on this page is by no means all that is available in the resort. To have a full list of places, please contact us, and if possible please state your preferred requirements.
The chalet was built in 2007; it is located at the bottom of the slopes of Les Eucherts and is specifically dedicated to large groups. It sleeps 52 people and is divided into 18 rooms with different capacities. You can ski right back to the front door of L’Accroche Coeur and the ski front is just 150m away. You are also just moments away from snow shoes and walking tracks.
Mountain based activities, whether sporting or non-sporting, summer or winter, are empowering elements to life but please note that many may not be suitable for your condition or specific need. Activity providers, guides and instructors will often go out of their way to accommodate the needs of everyone but please understand if they are unable to do so for you. Instructors: The ski school is fortunate in that the last Director was also a qualified adaptive ski instructor and he did an enormous amount to ensure that there is as much inclusive, social and accessible snow-sports as possible. We have had many clients using the resort and it works well for all disabilities and additional needs.
The following specialist ski instructors are more than happy to welcome you to La Rosiere: Matteu, François, Lionel, Jerome and Nicolas
Additional Information for Adaptive and Assisted Skiers in La Rosiere
ESF La Rosiere, has informed us that it is now possible to use sit-skis (both independently and guided) in the Italian ski area of La Thuile which links with La Rosiere. It is very important to remember that if you do ski over to La Thuile that you ensure leaving enough time for the return journey back by chair-lift - otherwise it is either overnight in La Thuile or a very expensive and long taxi ride back to La Rosiere via the Mont Blanc tunnel!!
Equipment Available
Please contact the ski school for more information on booking lessons and equipment hire.

The following are delighted to share their experiences with you on how La Rosière was able to assist and empower them to have a life enhancing winter and ski holiday. If you would like to speak directly with one of our beneficiaries please contact us so we can put you in touch – sometimes sharing a similar condition can be most reassuring especially for first timers!
January 2018 following their first ski holiday with Alfie who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy - “I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you what a success our holiday was! Lionel, from ESF La Rosière gave Alfie the most amazing time on the snow with the Tessier Kart-Ski and Faye and Mike at Chalet Matsuzaka were absolutely marvellous; they really made it work for us. So huge thanks from us to Ski 2 Freedom for helping us to sort this amazing trip. We are hopefully going to book again for next year (if they’ll have us!!).”

Mountains 4 All provides specific information on the activities for skiers with a disability, additional need or life-challenging illness, etc. plus useful extras such as wheelchair accessible places to stay; so we are not going to also reproduce amazing information and advice on ski resorts which has been collected by ski journalists, skiers and ski companies which are dedicated to this service - what we can do is to link you to these sites which may well give you some extra background information on a specific ski resort and help you make up your mind as to where you might go!
