Assisted Mountain Activities in Arêches - Beaufort

Overview

This is a charming and very magical village. Located at the foot of the Comet de Rosalend. Arêches-Beaufort is a village in the Savoie that is almost unique in today's world of purpose built and expanded ski resorts. This is very much a village which opens its arms to visitors and for those wanting to de-stress and just relax there can be no where better to come whether in the winter, summer or year-round. There is something so special about Arêches, it is difficult to describe but within minutes of arriving and getting up the mountain, one can feel that one has been here for days or even weeks, when in reality it is only minutes! Highly recommended!!!

Not really suitable for fully reliant wheelchair users but for those with young children it could work – there are several self-catered apartments that are suitable at the start of the end village ski area.

  • None of the hotels in the village itself have PMR rooms but are accessible for eating and drinking
  • Would suit those with full or some mobility
  • Great for snow-shoe walking
  • Families – especially if one or more members are non-skiers
  • It has fantastic all round area at top of chair-lift from village for sledging, walking, relaxation…
  • Great for art enthusiasts
  • Enormous potential for off-piste and ski touring

Arêches-Beaufort is the home of France's well-known Paraylmpian Gold Medal winner Marie Bochet (Single Arm Alpine Down Hill). Also home to Bar Chez Dede - a warm friendly, perfect vin chaud, biere pression sort of pub, also the bar and cafe really are great for kids after skiing for a chocolat chaud and crêpe.

  • Very good kitchen with excellent food
  • Charming and family run

Hotel Christiana
A very nice hotel located half-way down the main street. Ground floor accessible but no elevator. Extremely friendly, good food and parking. Easy 5 min walk to chairlift. Good for couples, individuals and small groups, family friendly. Catherine Cosby, Director of Ski 2 Freedom, has stayed here.

Hotel Viallet
Catherine Cosby has also stayed here. Good food, nice place to stay and good location. Quite old-fashioned in the decoration but it has charm and is warm and comfortable with wonderful views of the mountains.

Chambre d'Hôtes - Bed and Breakfast

Le Galetas - Le Coeur d'Arêches

Nanou et Gérard Pastre own three stunningly beautiful chalets. One, Le Coeur d'Arêches, is located in the village, just up from the Church. Catherine Cosby stayed here, hosted by the Tourist Office in January 2018, Room Sophia it is certainly an exceptional place to visit and extremely warm, cosy and comfortable. Your hosts, Nanou and Gérard Pastre have been here for many years and are very keen collectors of old Savoyarde antiques and brocante so the chalets are full of gorgeous bits and pieces!

It is possible to stay in one room, or take a combination - the whole chalet can also be rented. There is a large open plan sitting room come dining room with a devine kitchen just at the end. On the first floor are three large double rooms. On the lower ground floor is a separate self-contained apartment.

For people with more limited mobility, then the lower ground floor annex would be best. There are steps up to the Ground Floor and then to the bedrooms on the First Floor.
