Courmayeur in winter; we love it! Ticks nearly all the boxes as to what makes a ski resort so empowering for people and, as one of the most famous and iconic ski resorts in the world, it is embracing all there is about how to share its heritage, culture, and amazing ski area so everyone, regardless of a physical, cognitive, sensory, mental, life-limiting, or other health-related condition, can enjoy the same life-enhancing mountain experiences as any other skier or non-skier visitor.
It is not just the warm welcome, food that tingles the taste buds, breathtaking scenery that lifts the heart and soul, sparkling snow and crisp ski slopes, specialist adaptive ski instructors, laughter and smiles, wine that is the nectar of the Gods, special places to stay, but above all it is a destination for family and friends to be together – there is an experience for everyone; not just the skiing but the magic and lasting memories – what more magic is there than snow-flakes and laughter!”
Catherine Cosby, Director and Founder of Mountains 4 All: “To achieve a fully inclusive and accessible ski resort takes partnership, enthusiasm, and empathy and Courmayeur certainly has this! There is work to be done but I know Courmayeur will make it happen and I am delighted to be a part of this journey!

Courmayeur has a great selection of hotels, apartments and chalets suitable for all visitors. Accessible accommodation in Courmayeur is also available for wheelchair users (dependent on type of wheelchair) and those with limited mobility.
If a place is listed below it will have been visited by Ski 2 Freedom or will be personally known to us. However, any accommodation listed on this page is by no means all that is available in the resort. To have a full list of places, please contact us, and if possible please state your preferred requirements.
Courmayeur is blessed with an abundance of lovely, welcoming hotels - from 5* to small but cosy B & B style hotels.
Not all are fully wheelchair accessible but so much depends on the size of the wheelchair, the physical needs of an individual.... so we do suggest that you ask for more details from each hotel as to whether it will meet your requirements. For those in a wheelchair wishing to have the easiest 'wheel' to the Gondola then the Cresta et Duc (Alpissima Hotels) is probably the most conveniently located with a short horiztonal run to the Gondola. However, all the hotels run a shuttle service and there is a good local bus network to and from the ski slopes, the mountains, and the famous SkyWay experience!
Mountains 4 All has visited a number of hotels and an assessment has been done by Catherine Cosby (Director and Founder of both Ski 2 Freedom and Mountains 4 All).
The overall opinion is that Courmayeur is incredibly welcoming and this warm hospitality extends throughout all the hotels we have visited! One in particular has a member of staff whose parents have Multiple Sclerosis, so the Gran Baita is aware of meeting those type of needs.
Some hotels may be better suited for the summer months when a lot of visitors will have either hired a car or self-driven from home and that makes the location requirements slightly different - especially for wheelchair users or those with mobility scooters.
This is an exceptional hotel as one member of staff has parents with Multiple Sclerosis so they are very aware of the needs of guests with a health-related condition. It is so welcoming, cosy, but extremely elegant and really offers all one desires in being able to have a totally inclusive, accessible and health-restoring holiday - or even just a one-night de-stress!

Hotel Cresta et Duc is probably the closest to the Gondola and the main village street - although there is a slight uphill to the main street, but whether assistance is required will depend on mobility and weather (winter snow....) but the hotel, if you are on your own, will be more than delighted just to help you with that 50 m or so.

A lovely hotel, family run, and with an exception wine cellar! Open year-round this is a great place to stay and so welcoming! A short walk to the main village centre it might need a little assistance if you are in a wheelchair during the winter months. But it has parking and would be a great place to explore Courmayeur from.

This is a truly gorgeously devine hotel situated in the centre of Courmayeur! It is a gem and so welcoming - very much an hotel that is inclusive, accessible and health-restoring!!
Cuisine to tempt an tastebud and just out of this world - two restaurants and two exceptional chefs!
This is a really great hotel and highly recommended!

Tourist Office and Places of Interest in the Resort and Surrounding Area
To get a better idea and understanding of the ski resort of Courmayeur and what else they can offer you for your holiday, we suggest you look up their website as every Tourist Office offers a fascinating and exciting insight into what they and the surrounding area can offer visitors. In addition many have a dedicated website or page for those who are in need of assistance, disabled, with young children and babies and those of us just getting on a bit in life!
Courmayeur Mont Blanc Tourist Office has an exception Press Office and is embracing Inclusive, Accessible, and Health-Restoring Tourism. The general reception office is wheelchair accessible and has lots of information.
Many ski resorts offer reduced or discounted lift passes for someone with a disability or in need of assistance. For Courmayeur the following apply. However we suggest you also contact the Lift Pass Office for further information as prices and conditions can change.
Skyway Monte Bianco
One of the best, if not the best, inclusive and accessible mountain lift experience that Catherine Cosby has visited! It is quite unique and no one can possibly visit Courmayeur and not spend a morning, afternoon........ or all day exploring the many attractions on offer!!
Open all year (except for maintenance in November) it is a must-do!! Fully wheelchair accessible.
There is something for all ages and all health-related needs. With its new Saussurea Alpine Botanical Garden the mid-station - Pavillon_The Mountain - this is the highest botanical garden in Europe and is a spectacle of over 900 alpine species from all over the world. It is also now wheelchair accessible.
Wine tasting from the Cave Mont Blanc; Hangar 2173 is the past and present of the Mont Blanc cable-car to the new Skyway.
All the news, feedback articles and press releases illustrate how Courmayeur helps to enhance people’s lives. Also, in many cases, showing how Ski 2 Freedom works in close association with Courmayeur to help raise awareness of the empowering benefits of mountain activities such as skiing and promoting accessible, social and inclusive tourism.
If on reading our Courmayeur page, you have your own experiences and feedback of the resort (winter or summer) that you would like to share or feel would be encouraging to others, please do not hesitate to send them to us for inclusion on both our website and social media – photos and film clips also welcome.

Mountains 4 All would like to make it clear that we regard everyone as an individual and that no two people will have the same needs and requirements. Therefore please note that what you see on this page regarding assisted or adaptive skiing and accommodation, may not be suitable for you, or someone you know. However, if you think this destination would be a good ski resort for you, then please contact us to discuss your personal requirements and we will endeavour to see if the resort will meet these.
We hope that you have found the information on this page helpful and a chance to make a decision on where to go for your winter holiday. However, we know that often much more discussion is required and therefore we invite you to contact us as we hold extensive information on all our ski resorts – please contact us.
Our information has and is obtained by means of extensive personal research at a cost, often to the Foundation, we only give this out to those that request it and is not for general public use. For our beneficiaries this information is free but for a company or organisation we make a nominal charge via donation.
Mountains 4 All provides specific information on the activities for skiers with a disability, additional need or life-challenging illness, etc. plus useful extras such as wheelchair accessible places to stay; so we are not going to also reproduce amazing information and advice on ski resorts which has been collected by ski journalists, skiers and ski companies which are dedicated to this service - what we can do is to link you to these sites which may well give you some extra background information on a specific ski resort and help you make up your mind as to where you might go!
