Skiing with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in La Rosière – France
“I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you what a success our holiday was! Lionel, from ESF La Rosière gave Alfie the most amazing time on the snow with the Tessier Kart-Ski and Faye and Mike at Chalet Matsuzaka were absolutely marvellous; they really made it work for us. So huge thanks from us to Ski 2 Freedom for helping us to sort this amazing trip. We are hopefully going to book again for next year (if they’ll have us!!).”

Ski 2 Freedom’s Communication and Advice
This was the first time the family had been skiing and there were a number of specific needs that required careful consideration. A wheelchair user, Alfie also needed to be in a safe environment but with other activities to do when not being guided around the ski slopes. Being able to confidently reassure the family that this holiday would be all they were dreaming of was possible because of our long-standing partnership with La Rosière.
What our beneficiary told us after the holiday:
*“Hi Catherine,
Happy New Year! I hope you had. Good Christmas.
I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you what a success our holiday was!
Faye and Mike at Chalet Matsuzaka were absolutely marvellous; they really made it work for us.
The accessible room worked brilliantly. We needed the mobile hoist that they hired for us and we also used that to access the spa which was such a bonus - Alfie had a 20 min hydro season every day! We couldn’t get him into the outside spa but he (and we) were fine with that. The food in the chalet was amazing and both boys loved it. We were so well looked after.
Alfie loved the ski kart. Lionel, his instructor, was brilliant. They did slalom, jumps and high speed descents - they reached a terrifying 110 km/!! We have some great video footage from the camera that Alfie had on his helmet.
The wheel blades also worked brilliantly. Sam was able to push Alfie in his chair (with the blades on) along the beautiful lit path between Les Eucherts and La Rosiere - which was stunning. The whole thing was magical.
The ice hockey also worked for us and generally the people in the resort could not have been more accommodating. I’d highly recommend it for others.
So huge thanks from us for helping us sort this amazing trip. We are hopefully going to book again for next year (if they’ll have us!!).”* Kind regards Rachael
