Adaptive Family Ski Holiday in Verbier Niemann Pick C Disease

Adaptive and Inclusive Family Ski Holiday in Verbier - Niemann Pick C Disease

I want to thank you for recommending Verbier to us. It is a beautiful place! We have enjoyed a lot of this magic place with the family and Marta is enjoying it a lot. ESS Verbier ski instructor, Patric Gabioud, is lovely with Marta and has a lot of patience with the guided sit-ski. Ana (mother to Marta)

Marta (4 yrs) was born with Niemann Pick C Disease (a rare progressive genetic disorder - there is no known cure and mainly affects children. Treatment is focused on helping people live with their symptoms).

Her mother had contacted Catherine Cosby, Founder of Ski 2 Freedom Foundation, about a ski resort that would be accessible and offer the best adaptive ski guiding for Marta. (In December 2018 all the information and advice given was via the UK charity Ski 2 Freedom Foundation now that is undertaken by Mountains 4 All)

Catherine, Thank you for your lovely e-mail and your quick replay! It is great to find somebody that can help us and who understand the difficult situations. We think that mountains can help Marta and also us to find peace and charge ourselves with postive energy. It is great to hear that still is possible to find a modality of ski for her with only 4 years old and her disease.

Ana - mother of beneficiary

The family have two other daughters and Marta’s father is an excellent skier. The family are from Spain but needed somewhere easily within reach of Brussels, where they are now living. Several places were suggested and Verbier was also chosen by the family after looking at the resort on the Ski 2 Freedom website. The Swiss Ski School ESSS Verbier offer amazing guided sit-ski sessions and after some search suitable accommodation was found.

Ski 2 Freedom @ski_2_freedom would like to thank @ESSVerbier for all their help in making this dream accessible and inclusive ski holiday become a reality for Marta and her family. The guided dual-ski (guided sit-ski) was donated by @ski_2_freedom from funds donated to the charity by M & G Investments Ski Charity Giveaway
