Mountain Battle comes to Les Gets

BIG MOUNTAIN BATTLE, THE NEW SNOW EVENT, UNIQUE IN EUROPE!

Following the successful introduction of ‘The American Market’, the ‘Big Mountain Battle’ is coming to Europe for the first time and Les Gets will host 4 exclusive dates from 21st January 2012.

This exciting and original event is a ski race over the Les Gets ski area in which the general public are invited to participate.

The aim of this “multi snow sports” challenge is to pass through a series of marked checkpoints in under three hours. Teams of two racers, either on skis or snowboards will each be given a route map. With the help of Flaik GPS technology organisers can verify the position of each team in real time and ensure that all the checkpoints have been crossed.

Following the Le Mans style start, each team must race to find the various compulsory routes and complete them in the fastest time possible. To win will require strategic, methodical and tactical planning combined with a great sense of direction, as each team can choose its own route over the area. Participants decide the order in which they pass the markers. This challenge is open to all skiers and snowboarders of a competent standard to cover both the on and off piste ski areas around Les Gets.

At the end of each day, participants are invited to the prize giving and to enjoy a friendly pre-dinner drink and concert.

Four heats are planned during the season, each one with individual rankings, enabling racers to compete in as many or as few races as they like.
There will also be a final league table drawn up at the end of the series to identify the overall winners.

• Saturday 28th January 2012: The Bâ Bar Battle.
• Saturday 4th February 2012: The Zebra 3 Battle.
• Saturday 11th February 2012: The Bowling Battle.
