French Press Club Winter Wonderland

French Press Club “Winter Wonderland” networking event held on 11th September 2012 hosted by ATOUT France and France Montagnes was attended by Ski 2 Freedom’s director Catherine Cosby

*“It is always extremely useful for us to keep in touch with the ski resorts of France and to meet up with our good friends in the Savoie Mont Blanc Tourist Office – they in particular have been incredibly supportive of Ski 2 Freedom from the beginning and we owe them an enormous thank you!

We are also extremely grateful to Simon Atkinson, the new and first English, director of ESF La Rosiere who promotes the ESF at many UK events, for his support and collaboration with Ski 2 Freedom – Simon is also an expert “handiski” instructor for disabled skiers and so the evening was a good chance to catch up on what is planned for the 2012 – 2013 season.

What was really useful was to have the chance to network with other experts in the winter travel sector and with many journalists who were present, some of whom approached me with ideas for future articles on the benefits and opportunities available to disabled and special needs visitors to the French Mountains – exciting and coming just after the Paralympics this should be a great chance to promote a holiday in the mountains for skiers and for the non-skier the wealth of other activities on offer¨” *Catherine Cosby

On Tuesday 11 September, the French Press Club, a series of networking events, came together for its third edition inspired by the theme “Winter Wonderland”. On this occasion, 8 ski resorts – Châtel, Isola 2000, Les Gets, Menuires, Méribel, Morzine Avoriaz, Tignes and Valloire – joined us for a workshop to meet the British press, along with representatives from the Savoie Mont Blanc tourist board, ESF (French Ski School) and France Montagnes.

After the workshop part of the event, 15 tour operators – Erna Low, Lagrange Holidays, Mountain Heaven, Move Mountains, Neilson, Peak Retreats, Ski Collections, Ski Famille, Ski 2 Freedom, Ski Morzine, Ski Solutions, Ski Weekender and TUI Ski – and 4 carriers – Air France KLM, British Airways, DFDS Seaways and Rail Europe – joined the resorts and the 50 journalists for some networking over a glass of wine and some canapés.
