Niemann Pick Disease

Niemann-Pick disease type C (NPC) is a rare progressive genetic disorder. It can occur at any age but mainly affects children. The disease has no known cure and is sometimes fatal. Treatment is focused on helping people live with their symptoms.

The mountains year-round but perhaps especially in the winter and summer offer unique and extremely therapeutic and life-changing experiences for families with children born with Niemann-Pick Disease. They offer an environment of calm, spiritualism, magical and lasting memories with the warm welcome which the mountains are known for.

Mountains 4 All can offer you valuable information, support and advice on where to go, what to do, where to stay and how to make the most of your visit. We can also offer support through our affiliate UK charity, Ski 2 Freedom Foundation, if help is needed to ensure a family can be together on the ski slopes or in a winter wonderland with sleigh rides and fun!! Just contact us catherine.cosby@mountains4all.org to know more.

A family with a daughter aged 4 who has Niemann Pick C Disease ask for help from Ski 2 Freedom. Catherine Cosby (Founder) replied to the first enquiry we have had related to this degenerative condition:

“Catherine, Thank you for your lovely e-mail and your quick replay! It is great to find somebody that can help us and who understand the difficult situations. We think that mountains can help Marta and also us to find peace and charge ourselves with postive energy. It is great to hear that still is possible to find a modality of ski for her with only 4 years old and her disease.” Ana - mother of beneficiary

The Algie Family also contact us last winter and had an amazing ski holiday with Blair in Les Gets
